- 1 ½ cup ketchup
- ½ cup tomato puree
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 ½ tablespoons powder mustard
- 1 ½ tablespoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- ½ teaspoon of good quality liquid smoke optional
Combine all ingredients in a non-corrosive saucepan and cook for 30 minutes over low medium heat.
Stir often or the bottom of the sauce will be burnt because of the sugars.
And be cautious with the boil bubbles as they can jump from the saucepan and burn your hand, arms and face when you stir.
Let cool to room temperature and place in a container in the refrigerator. Lasts up to 2 weeks.
